Summit on Education

Nearly thirty years have passed since the last major conversation on education. Since then, our society, our schools, our young people, and the world of work have changed profoundly.

The Quebec Liberal Party is proposing to hold a General States on Education to provide a clear direction for the coming decades. Experts, parents, students, school staff, regions, and employers will all have an opportunity to make their voices heard.

I am encouraged by this announcement, as we are currently experiencing an unprecedented period of technological transformation that is having an impact on the entire education ecosystem. This is also what motivated me to complete training in responsible AI for professionals and leaders at Mila.

Having been an associate professor at UQAM for ten years following my doctoral studies, I contributed to the training of a new generation of researchers and professionals, directed a graduate program as well as a preparatory music school. I also have children in elementary school. Education is in my blood. The importance our party places on education has strengthened my desire to get involved.

For us, the solution lies in a more stable, better-supported education system that is refocused on the school’s primary mission: teaching, supporting, and helping students succeed.

The priority must be to restore the value of the regular public school system. Every student should have access to stimulating projects, meaningful support, and an educational pathway that inspires them to enjoy school, in schools that are in good condition.

One fact is clear: our school infrastructure is in poor condition. According to the 2026–2036 Québec Infrastructure Plan, the infrastructure maintenance deficit in the education sector has now reached $9.6 billion, with 56% of assets considered to be in poor condition. The CAQ has neglected the maintenance of our schools, and the situation has deteriorated. A Liberal government will prioritize the renovation and rehabilitation of our infrastructure.

Every child should have access to a high-quality and safe school environment in their own neighbourhood. I will actively support the school infrastructure projects that are needed. I will also ensure the rapid implementation of new spaces in CPEs and subsidized daycare centres.

Access to health care should never be a luxury. As the Member of the National Assembly for Montarville, I will fight tirelessly to bring strong, accessible local and frontline health services back to Boucherville and Saint-Bruno. My focus will be on ensuring access to a family doctor for everyone, providing direct support for mental health services and home care, and restoring funding for our local community organizations.

A high-performing health care system needs a strong primary care network. Under the CAQ, that frontline system has been weakened.

After fourteen years of CAQ rule in Montarville, including eight years in government, the situation is clear: an overwhelmed Pierre-Boucher Hospital, a severe shortage of family doctors, and no health service accessible around the clock. Is there anyone left to stand up for our citizens in Quebec City? Clearly, no.

The CAQ's promise of a more humane and accessible health care network has collided with reality: waiting lists are exploding, and citizens are being left in the dark about access to their specialists. The government's proposed return to privatization is nothing more than a false solution. It does not train a single new health care worker; it only further weakens our public system by encouraging staff to leave for the private sector.

A Liberal government will establish a public telehealth platform available seven days a week to reduce wait times for common health concerns and ensure equitable access to care across Quebec. At the same time, we will tackle the bureaucracy imposed by the CAQ and bring clinical and organizational decision-making back to the front lines.

I will be a steadfast advocate for our community organizations. On the front lines, they combat isolation, support our families and seniors, and prevent social crises while easing the burden on our public services. Our workers should be spending their energy supporting people, not exhausting themselves in a never-ending search for funding.

Every Dollar Invested Must Generate Real Value

As an entrepreneur who knows how to balance tight budgets, I share the frustration of many voters with the irresponsible spending and election commitments of the current government, which exceed our ability to pay.

As a father, I share people’s dismay at the rising cost of living, and I refuse to kick our problems down the road for future generations. We need to return to responsible management. That is what I have committed myself to.

For months, the business community has been calling for strong measures to protect our economy. Faced with global tariff tensions and the technological revolution underway, Quebec can no longer afford to stagnate. At the Quebec Liberal Party, we are proposing a real plan to support our economy and our businesses:

1. Promote innovation to increase productivity and efficiency;

2. Reduce taxes on small and medium-sized businesses;

3. Dramatically cut red tape and administrative paperwork;

4. Promote local purchasing in government contracts;

5. Eliminate trade barriers between provinces;

6. Fix our infrastructure instead of simply cutting ribbons;

7. Hire a Parliamentary Budget Officer to strengthen sound management of public finances.

Diversifying Our Markets

To diversify our markets, we have set the following objectives:

1. Create new partnerships with our allies in Canada, Europe and the Francophonie in order to reduce the share of our exports going to the United States and diversify our export markets;

2. Support SMEs that wish to join forces and pool their resources to compete in international markets;

3. Establish a genuine economic outreach strategy within the Francophonie in order to leverage the French language as an economic advantage for Quebec.

My Priorities for Montarville

1. Address the mobility problems neglected by the CAQ, particularly on Autoroute 30, where congestion is a direct tax on the wallets of our businesses and residents while also reducing our quality of life;

2. Promote the development of public and active transportation;

3. Help young people from our community establish themselves here in order to maintain a healthy balance between generations.
